What is Attributor?
Attributor is the world’s first web-wide content tracking and analysis platform that enables publishers to build value with their content wherever it appears on the Internet.
With Attributor, publishers can now program when, how and where their content is presented across the web and social networks. Advanced fingerprinting algorithms, a large scale crawling infrastructure and detailed contextual analysis provide publishers with web-wide visibility of their articles, images or videos. Using the Attributor platform, customers can monitor licensed uses, identify new sales leads and revenue-sharing opportunities, and derive more links and better search engine placement.

How does Attributor work?
Attributor digitally fingerprints each piece of your content (a paragraph, an image, a video), producing Attributor "DNA" to uniquely identify the content based on its essential features. You can assign rules of use that are associated with that unique DNA, such as how much can be copied, if you require a link back to your original content and whether and on what terms advertising is permitted.  Attributor’s system then scans billions of pages on the Internet and reports back the instances where the content has been copied, and whether your rules were honored.  When Attributor finds a use that is not permitted, we automate any number of actions ranging from a link request to removal, and monitors to see when action is taken. You can track the status of all of these actions and their resolution from a single screen.
How wide does Attributor search?
We search tens of billions of pages and are constantly adding new pages and refining the scope of our search to ensure that we are focused on the most relevant pages.
What types of content can Attributor monitor?
Attributor has been built from the ground up to support all types of content, including text, images and video. We expect each content type to be operational over the next few months.
Is Attributor some sort of Copyright Cop?
No, our goal is to make DMCA notices and copyright litigation the exception rather than the rule.

My content gets copied everywhere, so can that really be manageable?
We’ve built the system on the premise that you need a single dashboard to view and act upon the matches that really matter. Finding actionable matches on Attributor is as simple as running a report – plus we will allow you to set rules that queue up the appropriate actions (e.g. link request, takedown) on a single approval screen for the appropriate person in your organization.
Lastly, you will be able to track aged action resolution on a single screen, prompting escalation and follow-up actions at the appropriate time.
How does Attributor work with industry standards such as Creative Commons?
Attributor enhances and extends new licensing formats such as Creative Commons, and we automatically associate license tags with content that we monitor. We believe that transparency and accountability on content use will help drive adoption of these new licensing approaches and create value for content creators and publishers.
How is Attributor different than a DRM solution?
Attributor is the opposite of DRM – instead of locking up content in a box, we provide the transparency and accountability necessary for you to distribute your content as widely as possible, without the need to incorporate technical limitations on how the content is re-used and distributed.
How much does Attributor cost?
Our services are priced based on the amount and type of content Attributor you want to monitor. As our service is not yet publicly available, we have not yet released our pricing but we are committed to make our services affordable to publishers of all kinds.
Can’t I get the same results if I just search for my content on Google or Yahoo?
Attributor differs from keyword based search engines by providing a cross-media, web-wide solution that is designed to manage the needs of publishers of all sizes.  As a turn-key solution, Attributor continuously monitors billions of web pages and alerts with relevant matches, eliminating the need for recurring manual searches and processing. Attributor also provides context-sensitive analysis for each match including % copied, whether a link back is present, the presence of advertising and search engine ranking. Lastly, Attributor automates requests for link requests, licensing, replacement or removal of matching content and allows you to track resolutions from a single screen.
