The Senior Distributed Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and building our web application using Java/HTML/XML/CSS. You will design, develop, debug and support the current generation of Attributor products as part of a team. Responsibilities will include developing and optimizing search and crawling processor chains for various web products; developing programs to increase the reliability of the Hadoop namenode component; tuning Hadoop MapReduce clusters as per requirements; and tuning Hadoop Distributed File System as per requirements.

The Software Development Manager will confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures; direct, review, and approve product design; analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects; and plan and direct the installation, testing, operation and maintenance of the public facing production web applications. The Software Development Manager will supervise 3-5 people.

The Systems Engineering team is responsible for developing a highly specialized web-scale search infrastructure, including crawling, content processing, indexing, and query serving. This is 100% backend work, so we are looking for distributed systems experts and smart algorithm developers who know how to design and build scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software-development for distributed systems, experience with large clusters of heterogeneous systems, and a solid history of designing, developing, debugging, and supporting large scale software applications.

• 8+ years of development experience
• 2+ years at a company solving web scale problems
• Previous experience of crawling or advertising problems spaces a plus

• You must be driven
• Strong Java (Perl a plus)
• Proven C++ programming
• Familiarity with Hadoop / MapReduce
• Excellent Unix/Linux development skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
